End of the Year....

As if it's been nearly a whole year since i posted on this 'Blog Page' - i'm pretty rubbish at updating it, it has to be said.
Anyway time for a bit of post-Christmas cheese-induced waffle.

What a year it's been!
Another like we could never have imagined. Covid still looming dismally over us, Omicron cases seemingly ever on the rise and restrictions lurking far too close.
Work wise, my art has had another good year, with a variety of challenges seen and overcome. My 'Shed' (HBC word for studio) has been insulated, we've installed electric, lights and a heater (well, the wonderful Paddy from next door has) so i'm fully moved in and toasty while working away on these grey winter afternoons. Having my own space to craft and create in is a total game changer - anyone who has ever spoken to me personally will know how i have to be 'in the right mood' to do any painting, so being able to pop in and out as and when i feel like it, and not have to tidy everything away around dinner each time has really helped.
We've decorated the interior out to be suitable for viewings of my work, too. Earlier this month I had my very first 'Open evening' which was a fabulous success and the design and display of my pieces really worked (with mulled wine and twinkly Christmas lights to add to the festive feel!) I hope to have another open studio event in the new year.
Again, because of the dreaded C word i haven't really exhibited at many shows this year; only the Cotswold open day earlier in the summer, as the North Cotswold and a couple of others we booked in to were cancelled. Boooo. Fingers crossed for a better time next year...
Commission inquiries continue to pop in and out, so follow my advice and don't leave it too late to book if you're thinking of treating someone special (or yourself!!) any time soon. My prices will be staying the same for 2022: 'Mini portrait' (A5) £60, Single A4 portrait £100, Single A3 £150. Additional subjects POA.
As ever, all works are available for framing. I support a wonderful local framer called David, and he is yet to finish a picture to anything less than impeccable standard. He has a huge range of casts to choose from too - there really is something for everyone so if you ever have any framing inquiries please do not hesitate to ask!
I'm not really sure what else to blab on about, so will leave you for now with my Best Wishes for a healthy and happy New Year. Fingers crossed we can move forward a bit more than we have this! I'll try to blog a bit more in 2022, but failing that, be sure to follow my social media channels (@hbakerart) as they get updated most often.

Love,
H xx
